LESLEY DE FREITAS - PRET-A-PORTER S/S2017

LESLEY DE FREITAS

 PRET-A-PORTER S/S2017

Two strong looks from Lesley De Freitas's launch into Pret-A-Porter for S/S 2017.

'Spacer' fabric allows Lesley to create dramatic sculptural forms which are considered and easy on the body still making an elegant and refined line.

Silk Organza is used to epitomize Lesley's 'Haute Couture' background. The material is worked to both hide and expose the body.

The danger of nudity is balanced across the body with a creeping spiral of organza leaves.

These two total black looks are composed of elements that can be mixed and alternated with others from the collection.

The Key colours are actually warm and radiant.

'Spacer' in Orange and Damask Brocade in Yellow/Gold mix with the above to create elegant looks that heighten the allure of the body.

MARIJA MODERNA - S/S 2017

MARIJA MODERNA

WOMENSWEAR

S/S 2017

Slovenian heritage and an interest in modern sports clothing are at the heart of Marija Moderna.

A strong believe in women's elegance, clothing tradition and tailoring, counterpoised by the comfort of sportswear.

Nika Ambrozic Urbas showed us through the collection and explained the brand ethos in a delicate yet entertaining manner with many personal anecdotes from her family and fond memories of their style and commitment to women's elegance.

The clothing combines embroidery and the colour palette and fabrics of mid-european textiles. Some materials hint at the sportswear of the 60's and 70's, while some simply translate sportswear items into thoughtful feminine pieces.

Indian Summer

"Sometimes the rain is followed by an interval of calm and warm which is called the Indian summer."

John de Crevecoeur
 17 January 1778

According to the Met Office Meteorological Glossary (1916), an Indian Summer is 'a warm, calm spell of weather occurring in autumn, especially in October and November.'

It is September now, but this is a great title and feel for this set of photos.

Stylist Jody Leigh, @jodyjodzzz, put this very late summer look together from visits to MANGO and ZARA. How wise of her to look amazing and keep in mind a reasonable budget.
The glamour of silky fabrics and silver jewellery emphasized by denim distress.

Early Autumn

This look is very influenced by the style, colour palette and image making of Suhei Nishiguchi, from BEAMS (Japan).

Mr Nishiguchi is a fine dresser who matches very subtle material and colour contrasts.

His looks, feature strong yet subtle male tailoring detailing that make for powerful male statements while creating focus on very refined choices.

We've tried to reflect his sophistication with a mixture of elements:
Levis vintage LVC 60's  Sta-Prest Slacks.
A jacket and top from HM Summer 2016
contrasted by Penelope Chilver's Castillian Loafers in Burgundy to create a relaxed luxury feel.

Late Summer

Stylist Jody Leigh's, @jodyjodzzz, Late Summer ensemble is a collection of rich jewel and metal colours:

'African Queen' on a trek in the Raj!

She wears her own short palazzo pants with a Penelope Chilvers, especial edition, SS16 light coat jacket.

All contrasted with a pair of Low Valenciana Espadrilles, also from Penelope Chilvers SS16, demonstrating one possible lace colour combination from the 'Espadrille Workshop'.
