PAL ZILERI AW 2014

PAL ZILERI

AW 2014

The AW 2014 season is inspired by the style and tastes of Luchino Visconti. Sartorial details, combinations of materials and bold colours define the style in menswear tailoring of the 1960s.

This colour, texture and boldness give us the four themes of the Pal Zileri collection for this season:
-Naples blue, sky blue, light grey. Navy, with deep purple contrasts.
-Cognac, anthracite grey and burnt red.
-Octane blue contrast geranium.
-Light beige, lilac and grey.

The collection features fine fabrics from Biella in Italy and canvassed construction, demonstrating the brands commitment to luxury and concern for excellence. It presents wide lapels, a high-waisted silhouette and micro-patterned shirts.

Following the 'Giacca Pilotta' (Driving Jacket), the designer Yvan Ben Banaste, releases a new super light jacket. Manufactured in luxurious Colombo Mills silk and with a canvassed construction, the 'Doge' blazer once again shows his interest in high tech performance luxury.
The blazer is available either as double or single breasted. It features buttons that reproduce coins minted by the Doges of Venice.

The quality and variety produced by Sheridan is remarkable. The company specialises in superior bed linen, bedroom and bathroom accessories but has grown to encompass the children's bedroom and home lounge wear.

Apart from the quality of materials, the company puts forward delicately designed items. Their prints range from complex floral to simple one colour prints or the items simply feature their weave.

COAST PRESS DAY AW 2014.

COAST

PRESS DAY AW 2014

14th May 2014

Fitzroy Square, London W1

The Visual Merchandising Dept. at Coast created an impressive stage to present their AW 2014 Press Day. Whimsical ideas to create the mood of Autumn / Winter but abstracted enough not to make anyone gloomy at the thought of a cold, wet and windy future to come.

'Modern Romance' presents us with a palette of pastel colours, soft textures and floral prints. This is COAST's daywear.

Their 'Day to Night' collection featured feather trimmings, faux fur and rich fabrics in teals, navy, bronze and rich deep reds to create luxury feel separates.

"Dressing up is fun"!

Going downstairs the mood and setting changed with neon lights, disco balls and a city skyline view. Here we were presented with the glamorous evening collection. Jacquards in dark tones, lace and sequins, decorated dresses for the red carpet or an evening out.

MARKS & SPENCER AW 2014.

MARKS & SPENCER

3rd Best of British Collection

AW 2014

The "Best of British' collections are inspired by the heritage of M&S on the British high street. To spearhead this new approach the design teams are now in new studios in Shoreditch and are heavily researching their archives in order to produce a new translation of their history.
A modern interpretation of British heritage.

Belinda Earl, the Style Director, tells us that the beautiful fabrics used are the key to the success of the collection's focus on classic simplicity. The goal is to create timeless pieces.

The collections that make up Womenswear aim to cover all aspects of women's style: Gentle Woman, Downtown, Simple Lux, The Arts (featured below) and The Modernist (featured above).

'The Modernist' is a minimalist inspired collection with strong colour blocking, reminiscent of Mondrian paintings. The shapes are modern and relaxed with a feel for 1970's dress.

"The Arts" has a dramatic feel for rich texture and colour.
All the collections are edgy and on trend and created with a sensibility for heritage and contemporary fashion.

Tony O'Connor, the Head of Menswear, has put forward a collection inspired by the glamour, opulence and mood of 1970's style.

The colour palette mixes greys, browns, camel and taupe in a rich variety of checks. The opulence of the time is signalled to us through a velvet dinner suit.
The M&S collections remain at accessible prices although looking and feeling premium. This is a key factor at a time when the high street has had so many redefinitions and where new competitors have totally absorbed young clients with directional, fast fashion at very low prices.

NEW LOOK AW 2014.

NEW LOOK

AW 2014

Easy menswear shapes in bright contrasts, colours and prints and in greys.
The interest in menswear tailoring also features strongly in the New Look women's collection for AW 2014. The slogan T-shirt was very popular at the press presentation. A motto for the New Look customer: "Be Who You Are"!

Chunky geometrical jewellery and bags with strong geometrical lines. A really refreshing colour palette across all design including the odd flash of neon and pastels with contrast colours. There were also lines which featured the Black & White which is just appearing on the high street.

Thanks to the team at New Look we all managed to enjoy and take a rest at their Press Day.
Wonderful food and drink!
Here, resting, are the great London bloggers Karen Grace (frumpytofunky.com), Leroy Dawkins (Diary of a Clotheshorse) and Prince Cassius, all looking the part of the stylish group they make.
  Hurrah to them!!!
